Caitlyn Jenner is so hot right now. She was pictured on the cover of Vanity Fair, is starring in the upcoming docuseries, I Am Cait, and is a fashion icon on the rise. Now, add blogger to that list. Huffington Post has tapped the 65-year-old to be a contributor in their network. The series is called “The Real Me” and it will explore issues and people in the LGBT community.
Her first post was released Monday morning and titled “The Journey Begins.” Appearing on the site’s “Gay Voices” section, the article starts with “Hi everyone. Caitlyn here,” writing with the same dryness and self-deprecating sense of humor Jenner has come to display over the past whirlwind few weeks. “Up until now, I have totally isolated myself from the transgender community, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I feel such a responsibility to this courageous group to try to get it right and tell all sides of the story. To me, that’s always the biggest question: am I doing it right?”
It seems she’s on the right path. The public speaker, activist, and Olympian, as she’s described in her author profile, has had a crash course and condensed years of education into less than a semester of schooling. “I’ve heard every horror story there is in the book,” she writes of her recent experiences. “You wouldn’t believe the types of ordeals these people have had, how they have had to literally fight for their own survival. Many trans teens are bullied and abused in high school. It’s just horrendous.”
She ends with a simple sign off, a declaration that’s sure to become her signature: “Let’s live our true selves and make a positive difference while doing it.”
