Ciara Scores First Major Fashion Campaign for Roberto Cavalli

Fashion’s always loved Ciara. She’s been a muse to Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy, posed for international editions of Vogue, attended the Met Ball with designers like Prabal Gurung. But she’s never actually been the face of a luxury brand—until now. Roberto Cavalli just released its fall 2015 campaign, starring the singer.
There are no fewer than 10 images of the 29-year-old wearing the house’s signature sexy style, and she looks like a goddess in every. single. one. If we hadn’t been rocking out to “1, 2 Step” throughout our entire senior year of high school, we’d think she was just a supermodel.
According to Cavalli’s release, Ciara’s campaign, photographed by Francesco Carrozzini, tells “the story of a world encapsulated in one room. A surreal kingdom where the walls look like a magical sky and surfaces enchant with desert volumes and earthy hues”—i.e., there’s lots of sand and pretty colors. CiCi was chosen because she “embodies beauty with a hint of wildness.”
This is to be the final core season campaign featuring clothing designed by Cavalli, himself: The designer announced in March that former Pucci designer Peter Dundas would be taking over, showing his first collection for the house during fashion week in September (though Kim Kardashian showed off his first official dress at this year’s Met ball).
As far as the future of Ciara’s career is concerned, Necole Bitchie points out that she recently told The Guardian, “I don’t know if I’ll still be doing music 20 years from now. It’s the foundation of my business, but I want to be a successful entrepreneur.” (She’s appeared in ads for Adidas and Degree deodorant, but Cavalli is obviously next level.)
Still, she did just release a new album, Jackie (named after her mother), so… who knows. Either way, it’s great to see her working it, and werkin’ it.
