Cinderella Would Definitely Approve of These 9 Gorgeous Ball Gowns

Watching Disney‘s new live-action Cinderella movie trailer made us super excited to see one of our favorite Disney Princesses fall in love with Prince Charming all over again — in a beautiful blue off-the-shoulder ball gown! Lily James, who plays Rose in Downton Abbey, stars as Cinderella, and was a little apprehensive about putting on the dress for the first time.

“When I first put it on, I felt both empowered and scared,” Lily tells Vogue. “How could I live up to this? Then I realized I could use that fear to show me how Cinderella would feel at that moment.”

The film’s Oscar-winning costume designer, Sandy Powell, created the ball gown, which has more than a dozen layers of silk in multiple blue and purple hues in its skirt. As for the shoe that changed Cinderella’s life, the glass slipper that Sandy re-created is crystal and was made in collaboration with Swarovski, naturally.
