Coachella Fashion Trends: 6 Pre-Fest Predictions vs. What Really Happened
And just like that, the first weekend of Coachella bit the dust — though not before attendees were treated to historic festival fashion moments, such as Rihanna in a full head-to-toe crystal Gucci bodysuit. Still, while we can’t all walk around in such fresh-off-the-runway looks, there are plenty of fashion trends that anyone can take away from the fest. And Yahoo Style wants to help you do so accurately.
Before weekend one began, Polyvore offered plenty of hints about what festival-goers might be wearing, based on the spikes in searches surrounding Coachella attire. Among the highest trending? Search data for choker tops, choker necklaces, suede fringe jackets, overalls, ripped jeans, and round sunglasses all increased by an average of 51 to 338 percent between Jan. 1 and April 4 (compared with 2016 data).
Now Yahoo Style is following up on the predictions — and as it turns out, festival attendees proved them both a little right and a little wrong, adding in their own spins of color or style. For example, rimless colored sunglasses reigned over round sunglasses, as shown by social media influencer Aimee Song, and one-shoulder tops were far trendier than choker tops, as proven by Solange Knowles.
Click ahead to see the predictions as compared with the actual Coachella trends of weekend one. Perhaps they’ll help you prepare for your own weekend-two packing list.
