Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston managed to keep news of their nuptials under the radar. And while details are slowly being revealed little by little—rings designed by Jennifer Meyer, honeymoon in Bora Bora—what’s probably the single most important (and heart-warming) tidbit has been confirmed: in spite of rumors suggesting Chelsea Handler had landed the gig, Courteney Cox, Aniston’s BFF, was the maid of honor, according to People magazine.

Three years after Aniston’s engagement and a decade after a media frenzy that often felt wholly focused on Aniston’s love life, Cox got to watch her daughter’s godmother marry one very hot dude. Aniston was an off-camera bridesmaid in Cox’s recent wedding to Johnny McDaid—as well as on-screen in a 2001 episode of Friends.

“She’s extremely fair, ridiculously loyal and fiercely loving,“ Aniston told More magazine of Cox. “She’s been there for me through thick and thin.”

UPDATE 8/10

Lots more info about Jen and Justin’s wedding is coming in now, courtesy entirely of guest (and speech maker) Howard Stern.

According to Stern, Jimmy Kimmel officiated the wedding(!!!). “Jimmy was the preacher,“ Stern said on his radio show (via Us Weekly). "He did a beautiful job. I didn’t think he’d get through it. Jimmy’s still depressed about [Cecil the] lion getting killed over in Africa…Ellen [DeGeneres] was mad that I made fun of Jimmy for crying."

The rest of the guest list was beyond star-studded. DeGeneres’s wife Portia de Rossi, Orlando Bloom (with whom Stern was quite smitten), Whitney Cummings, Chelsea Handler, and Tobey Maguire were in attendance. All guests were made to surrender their cameras and phones at the door, though controversial fashion photographer Terry Richardson was there to snap pics of the bride and groom. Richardson’s managed to court favor in the fashion industry—shooting for magazines like Bazaar, brands like Valentino—despite a string of alleged assault claims by multiple models. A longtime friend of Theroux’s, Richardson first photographed the now husband and wife back in 2011.

Stern also revealed that the new husband and wife had their first dance to a Sia song, and that the wedding was originally disguised as a birthday party for Theroux. Overall, said Stern, everyone “had a fun time; great time. Spoke with all these nice people.” Oh, to be a fly on that wall that evening…
