Courteney Cox Wants to Know Why No One Wanted 'The Monica'
It’s been two decades since “Friends” debuted and we’re still talking about “The Rachel.” And you know who isn’t too pleased about the endless conversation? Monica. On Monday night, Courteney Cox appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to reflect on the iconic sitcom’s 20-year anniversary since the premiere on Sept. 22, 1994.
“Do you ever wonder haircut wise why people didn’t ask for the Monica?” Kimmel asked. After all, Monica Geller did have her fair share of memorable cuts — from bobs and bangs to loose waves and straight ironed — that fans could have emulated and asked their hairdressers for.
“You know what? It kind of bums me out, why didn’t they? We had the same hairdresser,” Cox, 50, admits. “I don’t understand. I got nothing. I kept changing mine, like, ‘If you don’t like it I’ll just keep doing it,’ and they never stuck!” But the newly engaged actress might have dodged a bullet not being the one with the memorable hairstyle. Aniston confessed a few months ago that maintaining the layered look required a lot of maintenance. And, in 2011, she even called the cut a disaster, telling Allure, “I think it was the ugliest haircut I’ve ever seen. How did that thing have legs?” The 45-year-old would even choose to shave her head once over having “The Rachel” for the rest of her life.
It's no wonder why Cox has held a longstanding jealousy of Aniston's cut. All best friends — one-screen or off — always want what the other one has!
