Cynthia Rowley’s Teen Daughter Surfs in Heels
Kit Keenan must have some serious traction pads on her surfboard, because the badass teen can be seen hot-dogging in a chic pair of silvery heels in a new video. Both Keenan and her mom, designer Cynthia Rowley, teased the video on their Instagram accounts, but you can see it in its glorious entirety below.
In the video, Keenan buys the footwear (designed by her mom, by the way), then totes her package to the beach, where she slips into the heels and hops on her board in a blue bodysuit, navigating the waves like an old pro. The stunt takes place in Montauk, N.Y., a popular surf town where Keenan says her family has been visiting in the summer since she before she was born, according to Guest of a Guest.
This may be first time you’re hearing about Keenan, but odds are it won’t be the last. Not by a long shot. The 16-year-old is already on the radar as one of the coolest kids in New York City, where she was born and raised. Though she admits to liking “streetwear” and being “interested in the fashion industry as a whole, not just clothes,” according to Guest of a Guest, she doubts she’ll follow in the stylish footsteps of her mother.
“I inherited her eye for style, but I don’t think I’ll pursue fashion as a career,” she more recently told Teen Vogue. Instead, the platinum-blond-haired teen has her sights set on filmmaking, she told the publication. “I’m in an advanced video production class at school and working on a movie about intersectional feminism and social media in Generation Z,” she told Teen Vogue.

Scrolling through her Instagram, though, it’s obvious Keenan is no slouch in the style department. Shots of a pair of high-heeled Gucci booties, cool sports jerseys, and even a stunning floral dress by Rowley herself help make up Keenan’s collection of stunning shots — as do photos of her surfing in other places like Puerto Rico and Costa Rica (sans heels).
While her interests skew more sociopolitical than her mom — she most recently interned for Planned Parenthood’s communications department, where, she told Teen Vogue, “It was a great experience; I got to learn about women’s reproductive rights through media!” — she does admit to the publication that Rowley is a huge inspiration to her. “She works really hard and isn’t afraid to take risks,” Keenan said.
Judging by Keenan’s surfing style, it seems like that attitude has rubbed off already.
