A Breakup Can't Ruin Dakota Johnson's Great Style

“My most favorite thing about London is that nobody recognizes me. It’s really…cool.” Said Dakota Johnson in the January issue of Vogue. The magazine, like so many others, pointed out just how much the actress’ life would change as soon as the hugely anticipated 50 Shades of Grey opened this month. Since she was cast, the media’s paid close attention to her style, her hair, her magazine covers, but now she’s in a whole new world. Her co-star, Jamie Dornan, told Details magazine that he feared a fan might kill him after the movie premiered, so dedicated are its fans. But as a woman, Johnson has to deal with a very different side of fame: love life speculation.
Less than two weeks after the opening of 50 Shades of Grey, tabloids are buzzing about Johnson’s potential split from her potential rocker beau Matthew Hitt. (If someone might have been dating someone and they might have split it might be a story?) As if that’s not enough, paparazzi actually waited for Johnson to arrive at JFK the other night as she made her way to Los Angeles. And then they boarded her flight (believe me, I asked). Does it get more invasive?
Can’t we revert back to pre-50 Shades of Grey and focus instead on her amazing outfits—past and present—and her legit acting chops (have you seen the movie? She carries it!) The 24-year-old has already worn Dior, Chanel Couture, and Balenciaga; she sat front row at Hugo Boss mid-New York Fashion Week, and has taken enough fashion risks to earn the industry’s respect, from dark lips to shearling coats to wide-brimmed hats. Regardless of her boy situation or paparazzo entourage, the only thing we care to talk about is what she’ll be wearing to the Oscars on Sunday. Who’s with us?
