Did Madonna Pose Nude (Again) for Mert & Marcus?

Madonna was posing for nude portraits before she even became a one name wonder. Kim Kardashian might be able to #BreaktheInternet, but Madge has a long history of taking her clothes off, making her the queen of the naked photo shoot. Starting in 1987 when she was just a dance student at the University of Michigan to two in 2014 (in L’Uomo Vogue and another in Interview) and many in between, she’s never shied away from showing off her body. And it seems she’s at it again.

On Friday night, Mert Alas, one half of photography team Mert & Marcus, posted two images on Instagram of who is supposedly Madonna stripped down completely bare. In one, a headless woman is pictured full-frontal with stars covering her nipples and vagina to comply with Instagram’s nudity policy. The photo is tagged with Madonna’s handle with the caption, “Ground beneath my feet’s getting warmer #devilpray #unapologetictits #titsthatmakeyougomad.”  A second slightly less explicit image showed a side profile of a woman wrapped in gauze, again tagged Madonna.

Commenters just couldn’t believe that the photos were of Madonna, some speculating that they’re actually Beyoncé or others breaking down the 56-year-old’s butt saying it’s not that big. One even noted that even though the setting is in the singer’s bathroom, it’s not Nonni’s body. Alas pulled down the full-frontal gram, but despite what users are saying, Mert & Marcus did recently photograph Madonna for her song “Devil Pray” off her new album Rebel Heart. The pair also shot her nude spread for December’s Interview magazine, so there are plenty of instances when Alas could’ve gotten outtakes for a social media shot.

So is 2015 going to get it’s first nude photo shoot of Madonna? This mystery is far from solved, but surely the case will be cracked soon.
