Dolce & Gabbana Renames $2,675 Dress to Honor Kate Middleton
You know you’re fashion goddess when a designer names a dress after you. That is exactly what has just happened to style maven Kate Middleton. Dolce & Gabbana is rereleasing a dress the Duchess of Cambridge wore and naming it after her.
In September 2016, Middleton wore the brand’s Georgette-trimmed crepe midi dress during a trip to Canada. The emerald dress from the fall 2016 collection originally had an Alice in Wonderland-inspired pocket watch embroidered onto the right side of the chest, but Middleton wore a custom version that did not have this detail.
Apparently, Dolce & Gabbana liked Middleton’s version and is rereleasing the dress without the clock and naming it the Middleton Bow-Embellished Cady Midi Dress, according to Hello! magazine. The dress is on sale at Net-a-Porter for $2,675. It is an exact replica of the dress the royal wore, except it is now in white, and the original bronze buttons are pearlescent. It still has the string bow at the neckline.
This isn’t the first time a fashion house named something for Middleton. In 2013, Max Mara renamed a beige cashmere coat the Kate after the duchess wore it to a wedding. And we wouldn’t be surprised if ME+EM eventually renames its Breton top for her, since she owns multiple versions of it and wears it frequently.
