Fashion's Already in Love With Caitlyn Jenner

The fashion industry has a reputation for being bitchy, which might be true much of the time. But it’s also a world made up of outsiders, of misfits who readily admit that they didn’t fit in very well in high school, or always felt like they lived just a little outside the box. And because of that, fashion as a whole is wonderful at celebrating differences. From homosexual designers to androgynous models to transgendered muses, the creative powers that be have always embraced the unexpected. And so, when Vanity Fair introduced the world to Caitlyn Jenner via its July cover, shot by Annie Liebovitz, the industry basically exploded with love.

Vanity Fair’s Fashion Director Jessica Diehl styled Caitlyn in designers like Donna Karan and Zac Posen. She wears Badgley Mischka, Herve Leger, Halston Heritage, and a black lace corset by Agent Provocateur. But the old-Hollywood glamour vibe is the magazine’s signature, and could represent their direction more than Caitlyn’s evolving personal style. What will she wear on her own, when she starts hitting the inevitable red carpets and earning the same kind of fashion-centric headlines usually reserved for her daughters? Given the industry’s warm welcome, she’ll have plenty to choose from!
