Girl defeats body-shamers by wearing everything people said she shouldn't
Body-shaming is nothing new. Plenty of people on social media openly criticise others for their weight, telling them what they should and shouldn’t wear.
Sara Petty had enough of this particular form of bullying.
After noticing a lot of tweets directed at women weighing over 200 pounds (14 stone), she decided to defy them all by wearing everything they told her not to.
This included leggings, bikinis, crop tops and very short shorts.
Sara wore each and every one of them, tweeting pictures with the caption: “Girls: wear whatever the hell you want.”
She also mentioned that a lot of the body-shaming tweets had come from women, stating: “Girls, stop tearing other girls down. Empower one another!”
Sara’s tweet quickly went viral and over a year later, has racked up over 100,000 retweets as well as 120,000 favourites.
A lot of people have also praised Sara for sending such an important body-positive message.
The world definitely needs more people like her.
