Givenchy’s Fall Ad Campaign Teaser is So Baller
In the old days—as in, like, not even five years ago—fall ads would debut in the all-important September issues of magazines like Vogue and Elle. But then the Internet happened, and social media, and fashion caught on and fell hard and now brands employ a detailed rollout strategy when it comes to dropping their newest campaign images. What, they ask, will get everyone talking?
In 2010, Alexander Wang plastered New York City with posters, guerilla style. Last year, Calvin Klein teased its Kendall Jenner campaign for months before announcing she was the new face of their jeans. This season, Marc Jacobs is averaging one new ad per week, sharing images of Cher, Willow Smith, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers via Instagram. And now Givenchy’s released a 30-second trailer filmed by Mert and Marcus in anticipation of the brand’s print campaign.
Wearing a spangled Givenchy dress in a luxurious and spooky mansion filled with rich rugs, glowing chandeliers, and hot people is kind of a dream come true. In the video, Mariacarla Boscono, Candice Swanepoel, Frankie Rayder, Jamie Bochert, Alessio Pozzi, Lucas Cantão, and Filip Hrivnak dribble basketballs, ride BMX bikes, play a vintage pinball machine, jump rope, and bring to life the sporty side so often referenced by designer Riccardo Tisci. Watch it—probably on repeat—above.
