Hamilton Stars Add 'Sisterhood' to 'America the Beautiful' During Super Bowl Performance
While bets were on Lady Gaga to get political during her half time performance, the Schuyler Sisters beat her to it.
Renee Elise Goldberry, Jasmine Cephas Jones, and Phillipa Soo — the three women who starred as Angelica, Peggy, and Eliza Schuyler in the original cast of Broadway’s Hamilton — reunited to perform “America the Beautiful” ahead of kickoff during Super Bowl LI.
Clad in coordinating pantsuits, a probable nod to former Secretary State Hillary Clinton, the singers went beyond just the sartorial statement to send their feminist message. During their rousing rendition of the patriotic song, the trio revised the line, “God shed his grace on thee/ And crown thy good with brotherhood/ From sea to shining sea,” to be more inclusive. After singing “brotherhood,” they added “and sisterhood.”
Social media took note of the addendum — and loved it.
The opening singers added 'and sisterhood' to "America, The Beautiful" and this makes me very happy

Who else enjoyed it? Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn.
If I wasn't already rooting for the Falcons, I would just for Dan Quinn's reaction to "and sisterhood" #SuperBowl pic.twitter.com/JbIA2sTP1s

Dan Quinn smiling like a goof when they sang "and sisterhood" just catapulted me fully into #GoFalcons territory

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda obviously like the lyric change too.

As did Chrissy Teigen.
SISTERHOOD

Some interpreted the addition as a dig at President Donald Trump.
Pantsuits and addition of "sisterhood" seem like a pretty strong trump subtweet. #SuperBowl pic.twitter.com/A9cZ8wgGXJ

I'm only here for the "sisterhood" and commercials celebrating diversity that are making Trump supporters' blood boil. #SB51 #SuperBowl

But most were in agreement that it was the best moment so far. Well, that is, until Gaga takes the stage.
By far the best part of the super bowl so far #SuperBowl #schylersisters pic.twitter.com/A0y6dapGbE
