How to Achieve Lauren Conrad's Fab New Bob
@laurenconrad
On the heels of her wedding, author, and Paper Crown designer Lauren Conrad is going for a fresh new look. Her latest ‘do (courtesy of Kristin Ess) is a multi-faceted choppy bob that is equal parts chic and rock and roll. (Take note, the long, straight bob is out!) We spoke to Giovanni Vaccaro, the creative director of premier on-demand beauty service Glamsquad, about how to achieve the look.
WHAT MAKES A BOB?
“The term bob is very funny. It can pretty much mean anything. It used to be considered a style cut above the shoulder, around the jawline. Now there is the long bob to the collarbone or even longer. Or the layered bob that you see here. Lauren’s has more of a square cut, which is great because anything too round or too perfect can look very mom-ish.”

THE “I WOKE UP LIKE ‘DIS” APPROACH
“I love this length, it shows someone that really went for it. It’s everything that you saw on the runway for New York Fashion Week. It’s undone and not really styled which makes it much more modern.”
COLOR IS KEY
“Cut your hair to be more than one length and then add highlights in several tones just like Lauren. This adds movement and dimension. You can see that there’s very little layering, her hair is lighter in front and gets darker in back which is the most natural approach.”
WHY GET THIS CUT NOW
“This is the perfect length, especially around this time of year. Long hair can be a pain in the winter when the weather naturally dries out the texture of your hair and you’re dealing with coats and turtlenecks.”
