The Worst Beauty Advice Jessica Chastain Ever Got
Ah, those beauty horror stories. The home perms. The misguided self-tanning sessions.
Even glam goddess Jessica Chastain, in Prada, has one to share. In her case, it was a near miss.
“I almost dyed my hair blond. I was living in Los Angeles. I couldn’t get an audition. And I thought, ‘Everyone is blond here.’ Maybe I should dye my hair blond. I guess that would be throwing in the towel,” she said on the red carpet.
Chastain, nominated for her turn as an ultradedicated lobbyist in Miss Sloane, has no regrets about avoiding a bad color job.
“I didn’t have very much money. I couldn’t go to the grocery store and buy a blond kit. I was afraid of ruining my hair. I liked being a redhead,” she said.
She’s immensely proud of her film. “I’m just playing a real woman. I’m excited to find characters that challenge the status quo of how we imagine women to be,” she said. “I love playing a woman, right now, that tries to break down the political system.”
As for the Globes, Chastain, like so many of her peers, was looking forward to some laughs and some toasts. “I’m hearing that Octavia Spencer is at my table. Octavia is my girl. If we’re at the same table with a bottle of champagne, it’s going to be a very fun night,” she said of her co-star from The Help.
