Is this Jinger Duggar's most controversial outfit ever?
Is Jinger Duggar Vuolo rebelling again? If her latest outfit is any indication — a black-and-white short-sleeved Nike T-shirt, pink jeans, and black Jordans — then the answer seems to be yes.
“Her first pair of J’s. Retro 7’s,” soccer pro-turned-pastor Jeremy Vuolo captioned two Instagram pics of his wife. The relatively tame look generally wouldn’t draw attention. However, because of Jinger’s strict religious upbringing, the wardrobe choice is significant — especially the Nike branding.

Back in 2014, Jana, Jessa, Jill, and Jinger Duggar published Growing Up Duggar, in which they explained that they dressed modestly because their bodies are “a special gift from God and that He intends for it to be shared only with our future husband.” They also revealed that they used the code word “Nike” to warn the men in their family that a provocatively woman was crossing their path. That word instantly made the men look down at their shoes to avoid temptation.
Does it necessarily follow that Jinger is once more declaring her freedom by boldly flashing that Nike logo? Since she married Vuolo, she has made headlines simply by wearing pants, shorts, and even leggings under a LuLaRoe dress, so she must know that people are paying attention. On the other hand, she might just like these retro high-tops with the cute flash of hot pink. She also must be reveling in the admiration of her new husband, who gushes about her on Instagram whenever he can.
I should probably stop taking her picture and just sit next to her @jingervuolo

Fans are of two minds about this.
“I really hope she chose to wear the word ‘Nike’ across her chest just to spite her parents omg,” wrote ramblingkite on Instagram.
“I am so happy Jinger that your whole life is changing and your getting to experience new things,” traceyfailla commented. “Shorts and pants, who would have thought. I love seeing you and you wonderful hubby going through life.”
But some wondered if Jinger is really being independent in her fashion choices. “She’s not being her own person, she’s just being Jeremy’s dress up doll,” jessij221 wrote. “She went from trying to please her parents to trying to please Jeremy. I don’t believe for one second that this was Jinger’s inner style before she met Jeremy. It’s just what he has pushed on her.”
It will be interesting to see whether the Vuolos address this fashion evolution in the upcoming season of Counting On, which premieres on TLC on September 11.
