Kate Middleton Followed the Most Important Wedding Fashion Rule
The Duchess of Cambridge abided by the cardinal rule of any wedding on her sister Pippa Middleton‘s big day: don’t upstage the bride. However Kate, who is not a bridesmaid for her younger sibling, was still one of the most watched at the high-profile event.
For the ceremony on Saturday morning at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire, a small town outside of London, the Duchess opted for a long-sleeved rose pink dress from Alexander McQueen, the design house that fittingly made her own wedding gown.
Not only is the color unique for Kate, but she also appeared to break one of her style laws, choosing a V-neck design that is rarely seen on royal women. She accessorized with a circular peach fascinator that featured an elegant rose detail and finished her look off with nude suede heels.
The Duchess stuck to a simple beauty look with her hair styled in a chic up-do to show off her dangling earrings.
The 35-year-old mother of two, Prince George and Princess Charlotte both have big roles in their aunt’s nuptials, arrived with the page boys and flower girls. This move made some wonder if she’s secretly serving as matron of honor, despite previous assurances that she wouldn’t be (traditionally, only unmarried women are selected for the bridal party). The Duchess was also seen adjusting Pippa’s dress before the bride made her way into the church.
