The Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to the Anna Freud Centre

The Duchess stepped out on January 11th for an official visit to the Anna Freud Centre. As always, she was positively prim, opting for a belted blue coat dress from Eponine London. She decided to go the matchy route this time, slipping into a pair of blue suede shoes (which you’d better not step on!) from Rupert Sanderson. (Photo: Getty Images)

For the Duchess of Cambridge, it’s a fashion history moment in the making whenever she steps outside the comfort of her palace’s many walls — whether she likes it or not. The woman formerly known as Kate Middleton is a creature of comfort, choosing favorite brands such as Jenny Packham, Alexander McQueen, and L.K. Bennett over and over again in silhouettes including coats that double as dresses, fit and flare frocks, and skirt suits, all of which she occasionally pairs with fun fascinators. But when she switches things up — such as in a Dolce & Gabbana lace dress or a Ralph Lauren hounds-tooth piece — it’s always a welcome sartorial respite from the sameness. And when she tops those items off with a tiara, well that’s just icing on the cake, or crumpet, I should say.
