Lorde Has Her Red Carpet Moment...& A Fan's Car Keys

Her hit song starts with “I’ve never seen a diamond in the flesh,” but Lorde might have to change her tune. At Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, she paired her custom made Narciso Rodriguez suit with Neil Lane Jewelry—including a staggering choker with probably an even more shocking price tag.

And though she has her own makeup line with M.A.C., her bright lipstick tonight is “by Sephora…question mark? Is that the kind of thing you’re supposed to know at the Golden Globes?” The 18-year-old New Zealander asked.

No, but she is supposed to know how The Hunger Games ends, since her nomination for Best Original Song was blaring over J-Law and Josh Hutcherson’s latest apocalypse romance. (She lost to John Legend for Selma.) “Of course I know how they end! I read all the books. I actually got to see the latest film before it was even done. You see where they haven’t finished the CGI yet, which is really interesting.”

Would she win The Hunger Games, if she had to compete? “I would if there was water involved,” she smiles. “I really like swimming.”

So what’s the strangest gift she’s received from a fan?

"I got given a fan’s car keys once. She was like, ‘I want you to have something of mine; here, take these!’ I tried to stop her, I was like, ‘No, I think you really need these!’ but she insisted. I still have them. They open a car somewhere in North Carolina… but I can’t drive."
