Lorde & Kanye West Coordinate on a Dior Date
Kanye West and Lorde are an unlikely pair. He’s a 37-year-old rapper, father, husband to one of the most famous women in the world, and reaps attention like if it went away he’d stop breathing. She’s an 18-year-old from New Zealand whose deep voice is chilling and was so nervous attending her first Golden Globes that her famous friends showed up in droves to show their support. They have very few similarities other than their mutual respect for each other’s craft — and now, it seems, fashion as well.
The pair, who met a few years ago (he told her that “he liked the messages" in her songs while she has covered in concert “Flashing Lights” and “Hold My Liquor”), are reportedly in the recording studio together collaborating on new music. And while their styles differ in so many other ways, their sartorial senses and dedication to their craft are very similar. For the Dior show, which the odd-couple were pictured together at, they dressed similarly in black looks. West wore a hoodie with chords and LL Bean boots while the “Royals” artist matched in dress from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2015 collection and accessorized with a backpack to make the look young and all her own.
Whatever may come of this unordinary relationship, it’s most likely to make a splash. After all, mashups of different genres sometimes produce the best results — in music and fashion.
