Lorde's Red Carpet to Street Style Transformation

If you had any doubts that Lorde is one of the coolest people in the world, we'd like to direct your attention to her latest Instagram post. Bathed in sunlight, the singer stands on a porch wearing a black crop top, high-waisted jeans, and white sneakers. A killer outfit on its own, sure, but as it turns out, the cropped tank she is wearing is part of the custom Narciso Rodriguez suit she wore to the Golden Globes earlier this month—the look that earned her a spot on many a best-dressed list.

Lorde captioned her post “all into reusing parts of past award show outfits (this is my golden globes top) cause they’re CUSTOM MADE and too good to just hang up and never wear again u feel! this is a narciso (rodriguez)/karen (walker)/stan (smith) combo (feat. rogue makeup bag).” It reminded us of when Girls' executive producer Jenni Konner told us she wanted to start a new fashion movement called “recyclista,” where celebs repeat the outfits that they’ve worn on the red carpet. We think Lorde and Konner definitely have the right attitude. Why wouldn't you wear your favorite outfit over and over? Bonus points to Lorde for giving a real life fashion magazine lesson on “how to take your outfit from day to night.” Simply switch your trousers for a pair of jeans and throw on some sneakers! (Btw, she’s also proving that Adidas Stan Smith sneakers are still the reigning it-shoe!)
