Madonna Is Owning Her Make Out Moment With Drake; Doesn't Care What Anyone Thinks

“What the f— just happened?” said Drake when midway through his headlining set at Coachella. The singer had just made out with Madonna, who was up seemingly up to her old tricks. (We still haven’f forgotten about the last public smooch with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera back in 2003.)

Here’s how it all went down:

Drizzy had sung a few bars of his song, “Madonna,” dedicated to the pop icon, when the music changed to the beginning of “Human Nature,” and M appeared looking super crunky. She wore a brightly colored Moschino jacket with a jewel print, a baseball cap that said THREAT in all caps, thigh-high boots, and—the real kicker—a full grill in her mouth.

She strutted the stage a few times, then the music changed to “Hung Up” and she whipped out her classic hip-shaking dance moves. Having removed her jacket to reveal a T-shirt that read “Big As Madonna,” the music reverted back to “Human Nature” and she kept repeating the lyric, “I’m not your bitch,” encouraging the audience to do the same. Then Drake appeared sitting on the chair where she was previously doing a strip tease. Never one to shy away from a photo op, she pulled the singer’s head back and suctioned her mouth to his for a good 30 seconds. When he tried to touch her hair she pulled his hand away. Having been fully resuscitated, Drake shook his head, wiped his mouth, and uttered the WTF line. Madonna, fired off one more “Bitch, I’m Madonna” and exited stage left.

The Twitterverse is of course alight opinions.

But here’s the thing, Madonna doesn’t care what you think. At 56 years old, she has learned to make waves, and you don’t do that by making everyone like you. She looks great, owned the moment, and seemingly had a great time. (We all know that she has a predilection for younger men.) Also, Drake’s reaction was disrespectful. Even if he didn’t enjoy the moment, which he cleared did because there’s no way this press coup was not planned—or practiced!—then he should have just smiled and gone on with the show. This is show business after all.

Perhaps the artist herself summed it up best last night on her Instagram:
