Mandy! Nicole! Kerry! The Five Most Stunning Looks From Saturday's DGA Awards
So yes, there was an awards gala Saturday night, this time honoring directors.
Damien Chazelle won top honors for La La Land. And in his acceptance speech, per the Hollywood Reporter, he referenced all that is going on in our world. “I’ve learned from the movies of Asghar Farhadi,” he stated, referring to the Iranian director who has said because of the recent and much-maligned Muslim travel ban (or not-ban, whatever version you choose to believe at the moment) he will not attend the Oscars despite the fact that his film The Salesman is up for best foreign film.
Arrival director Denis Villeneuve said that “as a foreigner, I never felt as welcome and respected as I have been in the United States,” but has been checking to see if his visa is still legal.
But allow us to be a bit more superficial, shall we say, and focus on the stunning ladies who also were in attendance and posed on the carpet.
Mandy Moore
The This Is Us actress was on trend in a black suit by Salvatore Ferragamo and Nicholas Kirkwood shoes. Plus her sleek updo had us swooning.
Laverne Cox
Laverne Cox plays a smart, sexy lawyer in the CBS series Doubt. And let’s all gush over her emerald Thai Nguyen Atelier number.
Kerry Washington
Well, hot diggity Scandal. Kerry Washington showed skin in all the right places in her black Sally LaPointe frock.
Nicole Kidman
Her movie Lion was released by the Weinstein Company. And Nicole Kidman was a lioness herself in a Marchesa sleeveless confection — designed by Harvey Weinstein’s wife Georgina Chapman of Marchesa.
Emma Stone
Best actress frontrunner Emma Stone was sparkly and edgy and everything in between in this plunging Louis Vuitton.
