The former Vampire Diaries actress was obviously inspired by her former role on the red carpet at the premiere of her upcoming horror flick The Final Girls. The blood-colored suit was made infinitely more feminine with the skinny trousers and high heels.

Chanel made the skirt suit a staple, Diane Keaton made pants acceptable, and Angelina Jolie made it cool. Menswear for women, once viewed as a standout risk on the red carpet, has now become a go-to ensemble for so many. While the borrowed-from-the-boys look is simple in conception, it’s diverse in what it can evoke. Wear a blazer without a shirt for some sexiness (amp it up a notch with some boob jewelry á la Jennifer Aniston); layer a crop top or bandeau underneath just like the kids for a young and fresh feeling (just look to Lorde for inspiration); or be ready for a business meeting — or to save the world — in Amal Clooney’s case. Basically, the style suits (pun absolutely intended) just about anyone’s sartorial sensibilities.
