Not Even a Concussion Stops ‘Tough Chick’ Priyanka Chopra’s Red Carpet Domination
A wimp, or primadonna, she’s not.
Priyanka Chopra suffered a concussion while filming her ABC series Quantico, spent a few days recuperating, returned to her New York set, and on Wednesday, hopped on a flight to Los Angeles to get ready for the People’s Choice Awards.
“She’s a tough chick. She said she’s sore. But she took a few days off and rested and was back at it. What a trooper! It’s a little bit scary, but it was thankfully nothing serious. I don’t know that it’s going to stop her from doing her own stunts,” says her makeup artist, Pati Dubroff, who used Laura Mercier on Chopra’s face and Sisley to prep her skin.
The key to Chopra’s look, paired with her Sally LaPointe frock: a flawless complexion courtesy of Sisley’s Black Rose Precious face oil, Laura Mercier’s Candleglow foundation, and Laura Mercier’s Velour Lovers lipstick in Fantasy.
Dubroff has a thing for Chopra. So do the rest of us. “I have to say, obsessed is an odd word to say about someone. I’m obsessed with her. Once I met her, I’m obsessed with her spirit. She is one of the most infectious women I have ever met. She’s so warm and fun and drop-dead beautiful. I want to have drinks with her,” says Dubroff.
The glam session was a fun gaggle of women doing Chopra’s hair, nails, and makeup. The energy was upbeat.
“The dress she’s wearing is a peach tone, so I wanted her to look extremely fresh and warm. Even clients that I know really well, I always go through pictures. When I saw this dress, I zeroed in some looks she had done in the past that were most about a bright lip. I didn’t want the lip to be shockingly bright. It was about fresh warm skin, a fresh warm eye, and a pop of a lip. It’s not heavily lined. It’s a strong lip, but it’s not a thick lip,” says Dubroff.
Fortunately, it’s a breeze working with the actress. “Priyanka loves makeup. I wanted it to feel like spring and fresh,” says Dubroff.
