Vintage Hipster: This woman has grown up spending time in Brooklyn. She might not live there anymore and may have decamped to Harlem and to upstate New York on weekends, but when she is in town, she spends her evenings at Metrograph watching obscure Korean movies and showings of Jaws. She is a diehard fan of Rachel Comey, Ryan Roche, Apiece Apart, and Creatures of Comfort. She is happy wearing an overpriced crewneck sweater with no label. This is your Williamsburg friend who had a baby but will continue to go see Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem when they do reunion tours! She wants to know what is “on trend” just to see what the kids are up to, but she is OK with high-waisted jeans, and culottes with Gucci loafers is about as trendy as she will go.

Forever Carrie: If 2016 had a Carrie Bradshaw, this would be her. She is feminine in style but loves her hardcore gangster rap too because that’s just how she rolls. SoHo is still her playground, and in heels she still struts. Self Portrait, Tibi, Tanya Taylor, and Rosie Assoulin with a dash of J.Crew is her jam. She plays in the It bars and clubs downtown — The Blond at 11 Howard and Le Coucou, and yes, she documents this all on Snapchat.

Club Kyd: She is as camp as they come! There is not a nightlife hot spot in this town that she does not know about. Baja East, Gypsy Sport, Alexander Wang, and Hood by Air are wardrobe staples for her, and Rihanna is her queen (sorry, Bey). Between Battle Hymn, ElevenEleven, and the occasional Horse Meat Disco with Ladyfag, Hari Nef, and the gang, she is more about the fun, the impractical, and how to stand out from the crowd rather than be lost in the crowd. Individuality and the ability to express herself is what makes this club kyd care more about VFiles than anything else!

Luxury is important to this lady — 100 percent cashmere and having the original matters, no “version of” for this classy lady. Gabriela Hearst, Adam Lippes, Zero + Maria Cornejo, Derek Lam, and The Row are her go-to brands. Quality definitely rules over quantity, and when she dines out, it’s Narcissa with the perfect lighting and a great wine list rather than the loud and the now!

#NYFW16 is officially over, the last of Marc Jacobs’s ladies just exited the building, and as we pack for London for its fashion week, we look back at what NYFW meant in terms of fashion trends. These days, the hemline of the skirt, the studs on the jacket, or the hue of the dress is great and all, but with the increasing popularity of the “see now, buy now” concept, we don’t really have the time to ponder, consider, and deliberate what next spring’s trends will be.
