#NYFW Trend: Gauchos Are So Hot Right Now

Over the Christmas holidays, half of New York’s fashion crowd decamped to Patagonia to attend the wedding of the year. Art directors Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea and Alexandre de Betak staged a stunningly curated celebration of their love, and while I can’t be sure that wedding directly inspired what we’re seeing on the runway, it sure is coincidental that one of the strongest trends coming out is Gaucho Girl. From Assembly to Ryan Roche and Victor Alfaro, Adam Lippes to Suno, there’ve been multiple references to poncho layering and plenty of strong knitwear pieces. Time to head to South America for that fact-finding trip—and get myself kitted out!
