Nineties fashion is having a moment: Crop tops, plaid, mom jeans, scrunchies, overalls, and more have resurfaced on the runways and in real life. So instead of buying a new version of a style from the on-trend decade, actress Perrey Reeves just pulled an original out of her closet for Sunday night’s Golden Globes.

"You’re going to love this," Reeves told reporters on the red carpet. "The first time I went to the Golden Globes was in 1992, and this was what I wore. I thought I would revive it. No one ever does that. But I guess I’ve been around for a while.”

The Entourage actress chose the same crimson crushed velvet ankle length dress that she wore to her first Globes 23 years ago, when she attended with then boyfriend David Duchovny. Then, she accessorized with a sheer shawl and mini purse. This time around, Reeves updated the dress with a geometric gold cuff and strappy sandals, with a small clutch.

Red carpet repeats are rare but they do happen. Keira Knightley wore her Chanel tulle dress on multiple occasions (including her wedding); the Duchess of Cambridge has some favorite investment pieces that she’ll re-wear for events; and even George Clooney shops his closet: the newlywed wore his wedding tuxedo to awards show. Jenni Konner, the showrunner for GIRLS, just recycled a jumpsuit for the show’s New York premiere. “I am trying to start a movement that I am calling ‘recyclista,’ and I want people on the red carpet to wear clothes more than once,” Konner told Yahoo Style. “It’s just a crazy idea that you have to wear something new to every single event … Ava Gardner used to buy a dress and wear it 10 different ways.”

The aforementioned celebrities simply pulled an item from their recent appearances, but Reeves managed to find a piece that feels on-point while also being thrifty. “I literally went into my wardrobe and said, ‘I’m going to wear something pretty that I always loved, that I haven’t worn again.’ And I did!”
