Earlier this week, the CFDA announced all the nominees for their upcoming Fashion Awards, but it seems they saved the best for last. Today, they revealed that the coveted Fashion Icon award is going to none other than Pharrell. “If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell,” said CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg said in a statement, “not just for his looks and sense of style but for his kindness and openness.”
Pharrell’s always had cool style but this past year he has certainly turned it up several notches. His signature Adidas tracksuits, rad kicks, and love for accessories has always been there, but when he wore that hat to the 2014 Grammy Awards, all bets were off. Hats have now been a constant presence in his outfits, and recently he also took to wearing multiple oversized rosaries, taking the Madonna “Like a Virgin” look, and completely blowing it out of the holy water.
Now, only one question remains—what will he wear to accept the award? If previous winners Rihanna and Lady Gaga are any indication, sheer is the way to go. Will Pharrell dare to bare? Guess we’ll just have to wait until the official ceremony on June 1 to find out!
