This plus-size model's career began on a dare

Yazmin Fox is a (UK) size–24 model. She’s 36 years old and stumbled onto her erotic modeling career by chance just over a year go. As she told the Mirror newspaper, a friend of hers dared her to put a nude photo online and the response completely blew her away.

The Australian, who lives in Cambridge, England, had intended on only leaving her photo up for a few days, but in that short time she was contacted by photographer and agencies seeking to work with her and sign her up, something she had no expectations of at all. “It just went crazy and I soon realised that it may be worth pursuing.”

Fox is quick to explain that she had no interest in modeling, wasn’t into fashion, and kept herself purposefully unaware of celebrity and pop culture that seems to inspire so many people to pose for cameras and share too much information about themselves online and on social media. “I have no real interest in celebrities or what’s popular. So, for me, the idea of being a model was just something that never crossed my mind,” she says.

Despite that aversion to fame and popularity Fox has quickly attracted a following online — boasting over 600,000 followers on Instagram, most notably. There in her many posts, she seems to be embracing her new calling as an erotic model, posing in lingerie, swimsuits, and au naturel.

In addition to her photos on Instagram she has a members-only site where members pay $30 per month to see more of Fox than she reveals on Instagram. According to the Mirror, she has over 1,300 paying members.

In addition to managing her own career — she turned down the agencies who came calling upon her accidental debut — she also manages her own social media. “It’s an extremely time-consuming job to sort through over 600 emails and messages a day,” she says.

Even though she did not originally intend on pursuing the path of modeling, she is interested in using her visibility and platform to continue to speak for women of all sizes in media and modeling. In addition to being an “erotica expounder,” as she calls herself in her social media bio, she also lays claim to being a “body confident advocate.” From the way she carries herself in images, it doesn’t seem like confidence is an issue for Fox, but it’s an area that many people can likely use the help.
