Rumors have been swirling for the past month that BFFs Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer would be showing up to the 2016 Golden Globes together, wearing matching gowns. And despite the fact that J.Law later said that—because of her contract with Dior—the gal pals probably wouldn’t actually be able to go through with it, we’ve still kept our hopes up.
Nothing wrong with being optimistic, right?
Well, the night has finally arrived, and we’re sorry to say that it’s bad news for all you JAmy ‘shippers out there.
Schumer arrived on the red carpet first, wearing a black-and-white off-the-shoulder gown by Prabal Gurung. The black panels on the sides were ultra flattering, and it even had pockets!—which are, of course, super convenient.
A while later, Lawrence—arguably one of the biggest stars at the awards show—showed up wearing a high-necked red gown with cutouts at the waist by—you guessed it!—custom Dior, accessorized with the most blinged out Chopard choker necklace the world has ever known.
She looked stunning, to be sure—but absolutely nothing like Schumer.
Ah well. There’s always next year…
