Sarah Palin Wore an Off-the-Shoulder Lace Top to the White House
Sarah Palin visited the White House for dinner with musicians Ted Nugent and Kid Rock on Wednesday.
For the occasion, the former governor of Alaska donned an off-the-shoulder white lace top, a black skirt, and nude sandals. She posted photos with President Trump and the other visitors on her Facebook account.
“A great night at the White House. Thank you to President Trump for the invite!” she captioned the post. Palin also described visiting the residence and meeting with Trump as “the highest honor” on her official website.
“President Trump’s invitation for dinner included bringing a couple of friends; it was the highest honor to have great Americans who are independent, hardworking, patriotic, and unafraid share commonsense solutions at the White House. (Asked why I invited Kid Rock and Ted Nugent I joked, ‘Because Jesus was booked’),” she wrote.
During Palin’s visit, she posed with the musicians in front of a portrait of Hillary Clinton.
Both men were pictured wearing hats during their visit. The White House does not have an official dress code, according to its press office, but visitors’ state of dress in the official residence is often heavily critiqued — no matter the figure. The men’s hats, unsurprisingly, brought about a number of reactions on social media.
Call me old fashioned but I was taught to always take off my fedora and/or camo cowboy hat when visiting the White House https://t.co/xyR5NkhSMl

@joan8904 @DavidCornDC A basic sign of respect should be to remove your hat in the White House. First thing I noticed in the photo.

I'm not a traditionalist by any means but the Secret Service should tackle you to the ground if you wear a hat indoors at the White House https://t.co/rVLAEZ6yhs

Isn't it kind of disrespectful to leave your hat on inside any building, let alone the White House? https://t.co/Zhhuy4hEFS

However, Nugent’s wife, Shemane, posted two photos of her husband posing with the president — and her followers didn’t see anything wrong with him wearing a cowboy hat in the photos.

She also posted a shot of the group, describing the night as “unbelievable and epic” in the caption of the image.

While some might deem Palin’s shoulder-baring top too casual for a formal setting such as the Oval Office, she is known for sticking to her own unique style — no matter the setting. Her looks often set the Internet ablaze.
The $695 beaded Milly jacket she wore during a rally in Iowa in January 2016 — while giving then candidate Trump her official endorsement — sold out everywhere.
Tina Fey wore the same jacket while portraying Palin in an SNL skit the same week — bringing more attention to the expensive outerwear.
Regardless of the mixed opinions on the trio’s looks, it’s clear that Palin, Kid Rock, and Nugent had a pleasant visit to the White House.
