Selena Gomez Rocked Leather and Lace at the Louis Vuitton Cruise Show
In fashion’s warped sense of time, the Met Gala (which took place on Monday) was basically a million years ago. By the time all of the gala’s various afterparties wrapped in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, style setters were already onto the next big thing. In this case, it was the Louis Vuitton cruise show in Palm Springs on Wednesday night.
Leading the East Coast to West Coast contingent was none other than Selena Gomez who eschewed the clean makeup and orchid-laden slicked back tresses that she sported at the Met for messy rock and hair and serious eyeliner. The rebellious beauty look matched her leather and lace Louis Vuitton minidress to a tee.
Also making the fashion rounds was Kanye West, who has never met a fashion show that he doesn’t like, as well as fair-skinned beauty Michelle Williams, a cleavage-baring Catherine Deneuve, and Miranda Kerr is a super short miniskirt that only models should wear!
The celebrity factor dovetailed perfectly with the stately home in which the collection was shown. Held at the Bob and Dolores Hope Estate, which was designed by John Lautner in the ‘70s and is currently for sale for a cool $25 million, the show featured designer Nicholas Ghesquiere’s usual brand of '70s funk meets scifi chic. Think colorful suede coats with thick silver collars, reflective cropped jackets, long gowns with leather details reminscient of a Trekkie at the collar. There were the usual box bag accessories as well, but to let you know that he was taking his surroundings seriously, Ghesquiere showed every glamorous look with a desert boot or sneaker. Expect to see those on every editor’s wish list when this collection hits stores in the late fall.
