#SendNudes2016: 11 of Our Favorite Brands That Have a Nude in Your Skin Tone
TruNude
While TruNude isn’t technically available yet, it did raise money with a kickstarter this year to help develop the brand’s patented technology which determines the customer’s shade of nude with an app that creates a color code based on a selfie. “Companies have gotten away with the beige ‘nude’ standard because that’s just the way it’s been,” found Danai Pointer told The Huffington Post. “Economically it’s easier to produce one color, and we as consumers have accepted the lack of options because, en masse, we haven’t really required an alternative. But society is changing, we’re diversifying, and our range of skin tones should be reflected in staple, everyday attire.” (Photo: Twitter)
Mahogany Blues
This company started in 2015 to offer dancewear for people of color, by creating leotards in shades that match light and dark skin tones. Right now the brand has four nude tones, but according to BuzzFeed, creator Whitney Bracy is hoping to add a pale and a cinnamon-y shade to her offerings.

Christian Louboutin
The Louboutin brand is working hard to offer shoes that can be considered nude on any skin tone — not just light to medium ones. In 2013, the label released a collection of nude shoes that ranged from very pale shades to dark ones, and last year it added more flesh-toned hues to the collection. This year, it launched a campaign revealing two new shades. We’d love to see even more hues that suit different undertones! Nude Pigalle pumps for all!

Falke offers flesh-toned tights in shades that will suit skin tones in hues from ivory to rich chocolate.

Underwear label Bj?rn Borg released its Six Shades of Human underwear line, which comes in six different shades of human flesh.

Beyoncé wore them on her Formation world tour, so if it’s good enough for Bey, it’s good enough for us! Nubian Skin offers bras, panties, and hosiery in colors for deeper skin tones. From caramel-complected beauties to rich ebony, Nubian Skin is giving women of color some much-needed options for intimates.

Naja Lingerie — “Nude for All”
Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez teamed up with Naja CEO Catalina Girald to create the Nude for All collection, offering flesh-toned lingerie in seven different shades. The collection strives to make it easier for women of all colors — no matter how pale or rich their skin tone is — to find their perfect match.
NYX Lip Lingerie
The NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie line has 12 nude, barely there colors for all different lip shades. There are pinky reds (which blend into your lips more than you think!), browns, purple-grays — colors that cover the gamut of modern and classic nudes.

Looking for pieces in a shade of nude that actually matches your skin tone? Nudest is here for you. The website, created by two Harvard Business School graduates, helps users find lingerie in colors that match a range of flesh tones. Anastasia Beverly Hills Foundation Sticks
In 2016, the beloved makeup brand released a line of foundation sticks, which include 30 shades to match many different skin tones and some hues for highlighting and contouring. It is a generous range of colors, particularly in an industry where foundation for darker complexions is often relegated to two or three colors, while people with lighter skin tones usually have more options to choose from. Shopping for flesh-toned clothing, accessories, and intimates if your flesh doesn’t match the peachy-beige hue the fashion industry likes to call “nude” can sometimes be a struggle. Even if you do fall into the shade range that mainstream companies narrowly classifies as “nude,” you might not find your color match.
Thankfully, things are slowly starting to change, and in 2016, we saw more brands stepping up to fill the void and create products that acknowledge the simple fact that “nude” isn’t the same shade for everyone.
