Wet Seal, once a favorite store frequented by teenagers, has been dethroned by the likes of H&M, Zara, Forever21, and other fast fashion outlets that offer cute clothes at a fraction of many other stores’ prices. Not only has the chain fallen out of favor with its target demographic, but the retailer’s also facing similar distaste amongst its employees.

Former staff members reportedly hung a sign in the window of one of the company’s failing outlets in Seattle, Washington detailing the corporation’s mismanagement. The list, which aired many grievances, asserted that workers were given only one day’s notice to find new jobs, weren’t offered transfers to nearby stores (“can apply and interview if interested”), and weren’t paid for unused sick days and paid time off.
The poster, which appeared in the Northgate Mall store, also criticizes Wet Seal for laying off low-level workers and closing shops across the country, all while upper management received significant raises. It also encourages customers to shop elsewhere and started a hashtag campaign using #ForgetWetSeal and #BoycottWetSeal to start a protest.
