Style Outlaw Sarah Jessica Parker Breaks a Fashion Rule In the Coolest Way
Sarah Jessica Parker is the queen of breaking fashion convention. It’s like the actress is always the perfect kind of tipsy and completely lacks inhibitions when it comes to her personal style. That “drunk in love” kind of attitude has not only served the star well on the streets, red carpets, or in character, but has also helped with her own fashion and shoe designs. Last night at the New York City Ballet 2014 Fall Gala, SJP wore a Mary Katrantzou gown, accessorized with a Chanel bag and jewelry from Fred Leighton, which seemed like a pretty standard black tie ensemble until she revealed what was underneath the floor-sweeping dress: high-heeled boots. The perforated black leather ‘Pat’ boot — named after Patricia Field, her stylist from “Sex and the City” — is from her own collection, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker. It’s an unset in stone rule that underneath long dresses, even if shoes will never be seen, there’s a pair of amazing heels lying beneath. But with Parker leading the pack, perhaps it’s time to go for comfort and cool over custom. Up next (hopefully!): flats.
