These Teens Are Stunning in Their Homemade Prom Dresses
Going to the prom is the celebration marking the completion of four years of late-night studying for tests and, hopefully, having made some lifelong friends. So, naturally, striving to look your absolute best is to be expected on this special night.
But instead of spending hundreds of dollars at department stores buying a new dress, these teens decided to opt for a different route — wearing a homemade prom dress — and they are stunningly beautiful.
From moms who wanted their daughters to shine so they created a dress from scratch to teens who took matters into their own hands by doing it themselves, here are some teens who are slaying prom with their homemade dresses.
This grandmother did her part in helping to create her granddaughter’s prom look.
Some teens and their moms decided on a more unconventional prom look.
Others went full-on do-it-yourself, like 17-year-old Claire Smith, who was inspired by Zac Posen’s 2016 Met Gala dress that Claire Danes wore and made her prom dress light up.

Another big winner is 18-year-old Shayma Boujja, whose mom really made our jaws drop with her beautiful creation.
Boujja’s mom has worked in fashion for years and she makes most of her clothes. She tells Yahoo Style, “My mom feels very proud of this dress, everyone was complimenting me. It really is beautiful and it took her a long time to make.”

“It feels weird to get all this attention, but I’m happy my mom’s hard work is getting some recognition, she deserves it,” she says.
After Boujja graduates High School next week, she plans on following her mom’s footsteps.
“I’ve always loved fashion. I’m going to take fashion design classes in college, and over the summer my mom is going to teach me how to sow.”
