The Best Part of Ariana Grande’s AMAs Look Couldn’t Be Seen on the Red Carpet
If there’s anything Ariana Grande loves more than her half ponytail, it’s oversized glasses. She’s exhibited her vast and colorful collection of granny glasses on countless occasions, like during a Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon performance.
She wears ‘em to rehearsal, too.
Apparently, when it comes to glasses, the visually impaired singer believes the bigger—and funkier—the better. Her obsession with the vintage style frames reached a pinnacle on Sunday night at the American Music Awards. Didn’t notice any frames on her flawless face? That’s because she didn’t wear them on the red carpet, during her performance, or to accept her Artist of the Year award. Nope, you’d only notice them if you were paying close attention as cameras panned the audience during the show. At one point, they stopped on Grande watching the show in a pair of circular plastic monochromatic black and white frames that matched her black and white outfit. The oversized frames featured cat eye corners and a hint of tan.

While she’s made it clear on Instagram that she needs her specks to see, she made sure to take them off before jumping onstage to accept her award. Although, it’s not sure clear why — they’re super stylish! Maybe they belonged to her grandma, who was sitting next to her at the awards show, and Grande just grabbed them for a moment to get a clearer view of the stage.
