Kim, Khloe, Kourtni & Kara Meet the Prime Minister of Armenia
Kim, Khloe, Kourtni, and Kara meet the Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan.
Even countries are profiting off the Kardashians these days. The clan—Kim, husband Kanye, poor baby North who doesn’t have a single ‘K’ to her name, her sister Khloe, and cousins Kourtni and Kara, —are in Armenia right now to “learn about their heritage.” Their visit happens to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, which takes place on April 24th.
People reports that the country’s public radio station said, “[Prime Minister] Hovik Abrahamyan hailed the fact that members of the Kardashian family never forgot their roots and added that their visit would make [Armenia] better recognizable.” And boy are they right. The anniversary of the genocide, which resulted in the deaths of 1.5 million Armenians at the hands of the Ottoman Empire, would probably receive about zero minutes of media coverage stateside if America’s first family of reality TV wasn’t in town to fulfill its lifelong dream of “visiting their historic motherland.”
And while it might be easy to mock their newfound political interest, it’s actually pretty great that the Kardashians have vowed to learn more about their culture, even promising the PM that they’re working on learning how to speak Armenian. Of course, Kim and Khloe are documenting everything on Instagram. The latter told her 19.6 million followers: “The Mother Armenia statue symbolizes peace through strength. It can remind viewers of some of the prominent female figures in Armenian history. Who took up arms to help their husbands in their clashes with Turkish troops and Kurdish irregulars. I am woman hear me roar! Blessed to be here!!!” This then made us think about all the other things the Kardashians could teach the world via their various social media accounts. If just Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney (with a y not i) swapped out every other selfie or contour lesson for a fact about the world or a cultural lesson every day, the three sisters would collectively teach 64.7 million people something new. But, then again, if they did this, they probably wouldn’t have 64.7 million followers.
