Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Cover ‘WWD’’s First Weekly Issue
With its final daily edition having been delivered to subscribers on April 24, fashion tome Women’s Wear Daily has officially gone weekly. And to launch its new format, the magazine is releasing six special text-free covers, each featuring a young star (or stars) of the design world.
The so-called WWDWeekly has revealed the covers on its Twitter and Instagram accoutns: The Row (aka Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen), Proenza Schouler (Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez), Sacai’s Chitose Abe, J.W. Anderson’s Jonathan Anderson, Alexander Wang, and Christopher Kane, all photographed in striking black and white portraits by Nigel Parry. There’s also a new title logo. (Note: Ashley Olsen is wearing hoop earrings. Should we be wearing hoop earrings?)
To make up for producing far fewer physical issues, WWD will include more in-depth reporting and editorials in its print edition, as well as beefed up daily web content. “Every day, we’ll continue to honor WWD’s great heritage and never waver in our pursuit to evolve it,” the mag promised when the changes were first announced in March.
We’re eager to see how this new phase pans out.
