The Olsen Twins Nix ‘Full House’ Reboot

Nooooooooooooooooo. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are officially O-U-T of the upcoming Full House reboot, Fuller House.
According to a statement from the Netflix series’s executive producer Robert L. Boyett, via The Hollywood Reporter, the twins, now 28, are too focused on being fashion people to step back into their shared role of Michelle “You Got It, Dude” Tanner. Said Boyett,
“Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of Fuller House, I know how much Full House has meant to them and they are still very much considered family. It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards Fuller House.“
Everyone else from the original cast has reportedly signed on to reprise their parts in the show, aside from Wake Up San Francisco! co-hosts Bob Saget and Lori Loughlin, who are “in talks.” The 13-episode series will focus on a pregnant and recently widowed D.J. Tanner-Fuller (why so much death in this family??) who gets some extra help raising her kids when sister Stephanie and kooky BFF Kimmy Gibbler move in. Hilarity (and morality) presumably ensues.
As for the Olsens, we had a pretty strong feeling from the beginning that they weren’t going to be into this… but we didn’t realize how painful it’d actually be once it was confirmed. There was that glimmer of hope for a minute, there, when they claimed they hadn’t even heard about the project and said they’d “talk to the creators,” but alas, it was too good to be true.
We may never know if it was Uncle Jesse’s mean tweet that led them to their unfortunate decision—in which case, he’s in big trouble, mister—but we do know this: Things just won’t be the same without little Michelle’s glorious catchphrases, temper tantrums, and penchant for smuggling animals into the Tanner homestead.
