The Weeknd (Silently) Supports Girlfriend Bella Hadid at Diane von Furstenberg

The glitterati were out in full force to celebrate Diane von Furstenberg’s latest runway show, which featured Moroccan carpets instead of a catwalk—with printed Marrakech silks to match.

“I met Diane because I was friends with her son Alex as a teenager,” Nicky Hilton told us. “As a kid, I didn’t even realize she was a designer—just this really fabulous, incredibly cool woman who I wanted to be.” Hilton got hitched to a Rothschild this summer, and says married life is slowly changing her style. “It’s only natural to have your style evolve and grow up as you do… And I do ask my husband what he thinks of my outfit before I leave for an event. He gets to approve it… Although I get to approve his, too!

Speaking of approval, Fran Leibowitz endorses the trend of bringing your children to runway shows a la Victoria Beckham. "I still believe children are the best companions,” says the legendary author, referencing one of her earlier essays, “because unlike adults, they don’t change their personalities depending on what they want.” Has Diane? “I met her when she first came to New York, before the wrap dress even happened,” Leibowitz answered. “She was very cool. She was more proper than Egon (aka her then-husband, Prince Egon von Furstenberg); certainly more proper than me! And she was—and always will be—a very smart woman."

As Karolina Kurkova and Rachel Zoe did the front row kiss-kiss, Kate Upton glowed in a white pantsuit—"now I just can’t spill on it!"—and Chiara Ferragni gamely posed for selfies with fans. "I love it when they come up to me!” she grinned. “It’s amazing to know I’ve had an impact on their style.”  The Weeknd wasn’t in the same camp: bodyguards fended off all interview and fan pic queries, except that of DvF’s teen granddaughter Talita von Furstenberg, who got the enviable front row seat next to him. (To be fair, she seemed way more concerned with chatting with her friends about tonight’s Opening Ceremony party.)

While style bloggers like Danielle Bernstein and Natalie Joost flaunted some super amazing designer pieces, Tori Kelly described how she gets dressed: “If you like what you’re wearing, not because it’s what other people like but because you do, that’s what I consider stylish.” What she liked? High-waisted DvF pants. Besides looking crazy amazing, she was also accidentally on-trend: when models Karlie Kloss, Kendall Jenner, and Gigi Hadid hit the catwalk, their hair was styled with the same curly side-part as Kelly herself.
