This Couple, Married for 52 Years, Loves to Wear Matching Outfits
Social media has shown us some serious cuteness in the recent past (this baby who was born with a full head of hair, just for starters), but nothing compares to this married couple that devotedly wears matching outfits with each other every single day.
Well, maybe not every day of their entire 52-year marriage, but they have been at it for a while at this point. Fran and Ed Garguila started coordinating their outfits several years ago, when they first began square dancing. They agreed on matching their clothing during the dances, but then it slowly crept into their day-to-day routine.
Finding their tradition adorable, Fran and Ed’s grandson, Anthony, tweeted out a few photos of their habit, and unsurprisingly, the tweet quickly went viral. See it for yourself, below:
Talk about couple goals! Naturally, Anthony’s post got quite a few positive reactions on Twitter, with over 36,000 retweets and 76,000 likes.
According to an interview with CNN, friends of Fran and Ed are super supportive of their coordinating outfits and have even joined in on the fun before. One time Fran and Ed showed up to one of Anthony’s singing performances wearing bright orange shirts — as did their entire square dancing crew, which also decided to wear bright orange shirts alongside them.
“Everybody looks forward to what they’re going to wear,” says Fran and Ed’s son, Rich Garguila to CNN. “I wake up to text messages saying, ‘Good morning! We hope you have a good day,'” says their grandson, Anthony, to CNN, adding that they text him the “outfit of the day” each morning.
Apparently, a couple that matches outfits together, stays together.
