Why ‘This Is Us’ Star Chrissy Metz Refuses to Wear Heels
This Is Us star Chrissy Metz warns fans of the Tuesday show: Get your tissues ready. The finale, airing March 14 on NBC, is going to bring on the waterworks, even more than the searing episode when audiences saw Randall’s biological father, William, pass away.
“I knew it was coming. It still doesn’t matter. It’s heartbreaking,” Metz tells Yahoo Style.
Yes, filming a show is work. So is promoting it. But Metz finds the funny in all aspects of her life, including her sense of fashion. “I’m a positive Polly, so I always find the good in anything and everything. Even though it’s tricky for me being a big girl, but I enjoy it. I do enjoy it,” she says, of getting glammed up.
She live-tweets the episodes, avoids screening parties, and watches reruns with her friends. And yes, she still gets choked up.
“Nobody’s ready for the finale. I remember when I read the script for the finale, I was like, ‘Um, OK.’ A lot of things that we didn’t know, we get to discover about several characters and the relationships,” she says.
When the cast isn’t shooting or doing press, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown and Milo Ventimiglia all hang out. They truly get along. As for Metz, she’s getting used to being in the spotlight.
“Truth be told, I’m like, ‘Guys, I haven’t even been in a movie this season, so should I be here?’ Let me earn it. But I still love to be in support of these incredible actors and directors and producers,” she says of being part of awards season. “And so it’s exciting, but there’s a lot of to think about. Luckily, I have an incredible team.”
And then, there’s the criticism that goes along with any red carpet appearance.
“People are gauging everything you’re wearing. So you kind of want to feel good, but you also want to be comfortable. I’m not trying to be in pain all night,” she says. “I never wear heels because you won’t be able to have a conversation with me if I do.”
