Apple has new iPhone, AirPods, Apple Watch. Here's when Augustans can buy them

Apple customers have some new toys to ask Santa for this Christmas. On Monday, the tech giant streamed its fall event where it announced new models in its lineup of iPhones, Apple Watches, and AirPods. Here are some of the new devices' highlights as well as when and where Augusta-area residents can buy them:

When and where are the new iPhones, Apple Watches, and AirPods available?

Nearly all of Apple's new products are available for pre-order now and will be available in stores starting Sept. 20. Augustans interested in buying or asking questions about them can do so at the Augusta Mall's Apple Store and at the Best Buy in Augusta.

Apple's devices are also sold at Walmart, Target, and at local mobile carriers.

What do the new Apple Watches do?

The first thing announced was Apple Watch Series 10. It offers 30% more screen area while being 10% thinner. The bigger screen offers additional lines of text and makes it easier to type. It's also a wide-angle OLED display, making it easier to look at when on the go or when giving it a quick glance. The speaker is now able to play music and podcasts out loud. New modifications have allowed better charging with 30 minutes giving 80% power.

New health and fitness features were also previewed. Pending FDA clearance, sleep apnea can be detected through breathing disturbances. There are also new depth and water temperature sensors ideal for swim workouts and other aquatic activities.

Apple Watch Series 10 is now available in polished titanium, replacing stainless steel. It comes in natural tannish colors as well as gold and slate. New bands match the new colors and there's a new Reflections face that compliments the metallic vibe. The watch is also available in aluminum cases colored glossy black, silver, or rose gold.

A new model of the Apple Watch Ultra was also introduced. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is now available in black titanium. It's also tougher than the standard Apple Watches and offers more capabilities for a range of recreational activities.

Apple Watch Series 10 sells for $399. Apple Watch Ultra 2 starts at $799.

What do the new AirPods do?

Next up is AirPods 4. It offers voice isolation removing background noise for when you're talking to someone on the phone. You can also nod or shake your head to answer a question by Siri. The case is now smaller and takes a USB-C charger. Another model is also available with active noise cancelation and "Adaptive Audio" allowing the AirPods to automatically adapt how loud your audio should be whether you're talking to someone or walking by a busy intersection.

Those were followed by the new AirPod Pros 2, built with hearing health in mind. They offer hearing protection with passive noise isolation. Also, if Apple gets clearance from the FDA, the new Pros will be able to administer hearing test to detect potential hearing loss and act as hearing aids.

While the AirPod Max wasn't upgraded, it is getting new colors: "Midnight," blue, purple, orange, and "Starlight."

AirPods 4 are $129 while the upgraded version is $179. AirPod Pros 2 cost $249. AirPod Max costs $549.

What do the new iPhones do?

Last but certainly not least was the new iPhone 16. The button on the side that silences your phone has been turned into a customizable action button that can record voice memos, translate phrases, and more. There is also a new Camera Control button on the other side, allowing users quicker access to the camera and offers more convenient access to the camera's features. When shooting a video, the phone also has technology that reduces ambient noise like wind.

The iPhone 16's glass is tougher and the phone comes in two sizes, 6.1 inches for the standard and 6.7 inches for the iPhone 16 Plus. New colors are available like "Ultramarine," teal, and pink as well as black and white.

For those wanting something bigger and "better," there is the new iPhone 16 Pro measuring 6.3 inches and iPhone 16 Pro Max measuring 6.9 inches. It has several upgrades with creatives in mind like the ability to record video in 4K at 120 fps, audio mixing for different sounds in your video, and in Voice Memos you can layer tracks and play with their respective audio levels.

iPhone 16 starts at $799 while iPhone 16 Plus starts at $899. The pro model starts at $999 and the pro max model is $1,199.
