Apple Launches Health App to Track Your Fitness
SAN FRANCISCO –– Apple rolled out its platform for managing health data today at its Worldwide Developers Conference, called HealthKit. Your view is an app called Health, which shows individual biometric data like blood pressure, weight, and activity level.
Underneath the simple interface, Health connects to products from vendors such as Nike that collect biometric data. The latest iPhones also collect precise location and movement data, which also feeds into HealthKit.
HealthKit also works with healthcare providers and data sources, for example the Mayo Clinic. The Health app will have a way of storing (privately) your healthy range of data and will provide alerts and information when your information goes out of the range.
