New Balance has announced the latest iteration of its 1080 everyday running franchise.
The New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080v14 will release in October with a series of refinements in both the upper and sole unit. A new engineered mesh upper has been made breathable in key areas, while learning from the New Balance Sports Research Lab have led to more rubber placed at the forefoot to protect high-wear areas. Updates to the Fresh Foam midsole geometry also ensure a safe and secure landing for all runners, and New Balance is calling the v14 its most versatile running shoe yet.
Among the launch colorways for the Fresh Foam X 1080v14 will be two editions for the New York City Marathon, of which New Balance is a sponsor. A white pair features pink accents that include a confetti graphic on the “N” logo, while the blue variant hosts a multi-color gradient on the midsole. Both colorways feature official NYC Marathon branding on both the tongue tag and insole.
“The Fresh Foam X 1080v14 is the perfect shoe for everyday runners because of how versatile it is. It’s the one shoe you need in your arsenal because it will meet all your needs,” Danny Orr, general manager of Tech Running for New Balance, said in a press release. “The TCS New York City Marathon colorway of the Fresh Foam X 1080v14 is incredibly special for our team to work on each year – it’s perfect for both spectators and runners alike to wear when celebrating the biggest day of running each year.”
The New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080v14 will release October 10 through New Balance’s website and stores, as well as select third-party retailers. Regular editions are priced at $165, and the NYC Marathon variants are $180.
