IKEA is paying people to play its Roblox video game. What to know about The Co-Worker Game
The Swedish home furnishing megastore IKEA is jumping into the video game arena: It's releasing The Co-Worker Game on Roblox.
IKEA will release The Co-Worker Game on June 24, 2024. Players will get to "experience working in IKEA's virtual universe. Fans will be able to live their home furnishing dreams and get paid for it, with a limited number of paid roles available" according to a press release on ikea.com.
There's just one catch: Only 10 people will be hired as paid players of the game, and applicants have to be based in the United Kingdom. But Roblox gamers around the world will be able to play the IKEA game.

What is the name of the IKEA game on Roblox?
IKEA and Roblox are teaming up to release The Co-Worker Game on June 24. It's IKEA's first foray into the gaming world and will allow Roblox players to immerse themselves in the working world of IKEA.
Players will work in IKEA's new virtual store on Roblox, including serving Swedish meatballs at the restaurant, organizing showrooms full of IKEA products and more.
Is Roblox IKEA job real?
Yes, IKEA really does plan to pay 10 people £13.15 an hour ($16.82 in U.S. dollars) for "working" in The Co-Worker Game on Roblox.
This game-for-pay opportunity is available only to people living in the U.K.
"We're excited to be the first brand to launch paid work on Roblox to showcase how we do careers differently, bringing our unique careers philosophy to life," Darren Taylor, Country People and Culture Manager at IKEA UK and Ireland, said in a press release at ikea.com.
How to apply for Roblox IKEA job
Only U.K. residents are eligible to apply for the Roblox IKEA jobs. Here's how:
Applications are accepted through June 16.
Ten paid jobs are available.
Those selected will be able to help customers, get promoted and move to different departments just like in the real world.
Unpaid Roblox players will work alongside the paid players in the virtual IKEA store on Roblox.
Virtual interviews for shortlisted applicants will take place between June 14 and 18.
Selected applications will be paid £13.15 per hour ($16.82 U.S.).
Paid players must be 18 or older and located in the United Kingdom.
