I'm a travel writer, and this palm-sized 3-in-1 charger never leaves my suitcase
Anker's space-saving gadget juices up my iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods quickly, all while keeping cables to a minimum.
Writing about all things travel is how I make a living, and testing travel tech is one of my favorite parts of the job. So when I saw that Anker, one of my go-to tech brands, had released a 3-in-1 charging station for iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch that folds up to basically nothing, my eyes widened. After just a couple of uses, it has become one of my latest travel obsessions, especially when I'm in "carry-on-only" mode.
This is one of the most thoughtfully designed wireless charging stations I've used. And since it folds up to be the "size of a pack of playing cards," it's easy to take on trips.
This MagSafe-compatible charging station folds up into a tiny palm-sized brick that slides into any pocket — and that's what makes it such a rock-star find, especially for travelers who like to pack light. It will barely put a dent in your bag. And when you're using it, this gizmo charges your most essential tech without being a clunky, heavy mess on a hotel nightstand.
You get three chargers for the price of one with this gadget, so you're getting plenty of bang for your buck. While you won't have to look too hard to find other wireless MagSafe charger at Amazon, it takes a bit more work to find a 3-in-1 that's fully foldable. And thanks to its fast-charging feature, it won't take long for everything to hit 100%.
Also, since this gizmo is MagSafe-compatible, your iPhone and Apple Watch will magnetically attach to their respective charging surfaces, allowing them to act as dual nightstand clocks. You'll be able to see the clock and battery percentage at the same time on both devices — there's no missing that early morning flight with this helper. Your AirPods juice up on the charging pad in between them.
Though it just made its debut in January, the Anker MagGo 3-in-1 Charging Station already has over 1,300 five-star reviews on Amazon.
"Great charger for a frequent traveler," one impressed shopper wrote. "The foldable design of this charging station is a stroke of genius. It's compact enough to slip into my bag when I'm traveling and it unfolds to charge my iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch simultaneously. The build quality is solid, and the magnetic hold is just right — not too strong, not too weak."
"My wife and I both have one now. They are great for traveling," another reviewer wrote. "This has eliminated us having to carry multiple chargers and cables."
A couple of fans suggested some minor design tweaks, however.
"I wish the watch charger rotated up a little more so bands would more easily lay on the table," one reviewer said. Still, they "love the way it folds up." Though it comes with an adapter, another shopper suggested this: "I wish the [charging] brick had foldable plugs again for travel purposes," they wrote. "With the amount of chargers Anker has, that would have been the icing on the cake."
Want to brighten things up a bit? My new favorite travel gizmo also comes in white!
Need an affordable travel tech case to store this charging station and any other small tech or cables? This one has over 16,000 five-star reviews.
I travel with a lot of tech — laptop, tablet, smartwatch, over-ear headphones. In true type-A fashion, I was thrilled to find this case a few years ago. It has just enough compartments to keep cables and gadgets neatly stowed, organized and easily accessible. What I love most, though, is that it doesn't take up much space in my carry-on.
Almost 17,000 Amazon shoppers are big fans too. "I was able to fit more than four different charging cables, a power bank and a small power brick," one five-star reviewer wrote before co-signing my rave review, saying it "doesn't take [up] much space at all."
